Evolving: Social Networking to Social Education

We will look back in years to come and ask ourselves how it was that we so readily shared personal information about our lives through social media, but failed to grasp the significant growth and opportunities to be gained by sharing our knowledge, wisdom and experience through similar means.

I am proud that Kewordal is an instrument for that change, blending education with social networking; which could be best described as ‘social education’.  A term that has a broader meaning than ‘social learning’, which for many denotes the ‘learning’ element.  For us, social education on the other hand, encapsulates both pedagogy and learning.

Lived and observed experience illustrates the enormous impact and difference made when we commit to learning together for the betterment of each other.  Whether it is supportive competitive learning amongst a group of friends to enhance each member of the group’s attainment, with the result that everyone’s grades improve; or support from individuals who have been there and done it, the outcome is the same, it is unsurprisingly addictive, because each person understands the things they share and the benefits they can gain to improve their life.  In the not-too-distant future, we will embrace this type of social, realising whether for individual or benevolent reasons, that ‘you grow when I grow’, and ‘I grow when you grow’.  Ultimately, this is about learning through sharing, two of the most fundamental activities for social development.

Our raison d'être is not just learning for growth, but learning from growth.  Education is not the end, but the means.  It is life’s footprint, and spans knowledge, intelligence and wisdom.  We know intuitively, anecdotally, empirically, and our own experience shows this, that education improves lives.  We want to give everyone this opportunity by enabling and ensuring access to education in the simplest way, so that you will not only become more active inspired learners, but educators too.  You have a key part to play in not just improving your future through your own means and utilising the sound knowledge and experience around you, but also to help shape the future of those with less than you.  This type of learning will bring greater opportunities, and ensure that we travel further together while diminishing the things that set us apart.  At Kewordal, while learning is our most important objective, sharing is the most important fuel for it; if one is to realise their full potential.
